On behalf of the Evangelism team and Pastor Wayne, we are so grateful to God for your passion to worship Him and serve alongside our family. We are honored that God has called you to step out in faith and use your gifts and talents to glorify Him, and we are overjoyed to grow in relationship with you and encourage you in your walk with God. Please know that you are so vital to the work God is doing in and through New Hope, as you are an important part of our Church Body. Thank you for your heart to serve. As you read through this information, please prayerfully consider what being on the worship team will require. This is not a band. It is not a concert. It is worship. The focus is not going to be you on stage. This is about God and worshipping Him. All the glory goes to Him. We look forward to growing in Christ with you as we worship our King in Spirit and in Truth.

The name FRONTLINES comes from 2 Chronicles 20:21, 22, where the musicians were appointed to walk ahead of the army and God used them to confuse the enemy and bring victory to God’s people.

After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the LORD and to praise Him for the splendor of His holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: “Give thanks to the LORD,
for His love endures forever.” As they began to sing and praise, the LORD set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated (2 Chronicles 20:21, 22).

To present the Gospel to non-Christians and Christians alike with simplicity and excellence. With the Holy Spirit’s direction, we will redeem music for the glory of God and present the Gospel in contemporary ways that will reach the heart.

Love God- This is our primary drive and purpose. We desire to be a people who love the Lord our God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength. It’s out of this love that we live our lives. (Matt. 22:36)

Love People-Jesus said that people wouldn’t know us because of how smart we were, nor how perfect we lived and not even how big our ministry was but rather simply by how we love one another. We value people in our ministry for who they are and not what they can do for us. We love people because God loves people. (Matt 22:37)

Doing Church As A Team- We realize that God has gifted every single believer and in order for the church to become the one church Jesus intended, everyone must function together by serving with their various gifts, talents, and temperaments. (Ephesians 4:11-13)

Spirit of Excellence- We believe that we do not work for men but for God. Therefore we desire to give Him our very best in everything that we do. It’s important to denote that we have a spirit of excellence and not a standard of excellence. A standard of excellence focus on the product and its performance; a spirit of excellence focus on the heart and manner in which someone does something. We live by the latter.

Gracious In All Our Dealings- We realize that it is because of grace that we have everything that we have today. God did not give us what we deserved, but rather chose to show grace and rewarded us according to His great love. In the same manner we tend to err on the side of grace when we deal with each other. The way we treat each other and forgive one another testifies to the hope and love of Christ that lives in each one of us (Colossians 4:6; Philippians 2:2-5).

The following is a list of criteria indicating the preferred qualifications for a member of the Frontlines Worship Team at New Hope Oahu.

  1. Committed member of this church – Music ministry is not the right of the talented but the privilege extended to the committed and faithful.  Note: We are open to receiving special music from those who are not committed to this body of believers but the regular, ongoing and leadership nature of this ministry requires a strong commitment to the people and leadership of this church, New Hope Oahu.
  2. Worshipper – To qualify for the worship team, one must be a worshipper. Every member, musicians and vocalist alike, must have a love for praise and worshipping the Father.
  3. Musical abilities – The musicians and vocalists need to be skilled enough to follow a service which is led by the Spirit of God. We don’t want to limit what God will do simply because we can’t handle it musically. (See p.6-7)
  4. Time commitment – Practice sessions, preparation before each meeting and ministry are mandatory. Being that the worship ministry requires a fairly large time commitment we ask you serve at least once a month.
  5. Support of family – It is important that the individual’s immediate family members are willing to accept the necessary time commitment and be a support to the individual.
